From Humble Beginnings to Leavenworth Success: The OSO Mix Journey

Omaha, NE. It is a fact that these highly appreciated blends, which have gained significant popularity in the past year, are the best way to accompany a drink, typically michelada-style beer. And although you have probably seen this delightful palate-pleaser in some establishments, you may not know its creators. That’s why, at Mundo Latino, we present to you the story of Oso Mix Micheladas, a company celebrating its second anniversary, and we tell you how, during this time, they have managed to position their products among the Latino and Anglo communities in Nebraska and other states.

The creators, Noé and Alejandra Aguilar, originally from Jalpa Zacatecas, Mexico, have been residing in Omaha for over 15 years. They started this entrepreneurial project during the challenging phase of the pandemic. The pandemic, which affected thousands of households and their finances, forced people like this couple to adapt to difficult times in a positive way. With plenty of time on their hands and a strong desire to move forward, both husband and wife set out to turn a dream that began at parties and gatherings into a reality that can now be found in dozens of businesses in the state and nearby areas. It was a dream that was not easy to achieve, but it was worth it from the moment they found support from family and friends, which inspired them to cater to each of their demanding customers. As Alejandra tells us, “we always seek ways to listen to people’s suggestions, and it’s thanks to that we’ve been able to increase our production, as well as the variety of products. Currently, we offer everything from the original blend for a delicious michelada to chamoy and gummies, which are in high demand by both young and old.

Carrying out this project to lay the foundations was not easy at all, according to Noé, especially with the uncertainty of whether people would accept the product. “At first, our production quantity was limited, but we managed to organize ourselves to make it available in the usual places, as well as new ones. In my case, I used to work with my brother before deciding to dedicate myself fully to this, and even though we still have our joint business, my time is now dedicated to my family and Oso Mix Micheladas,” he explained.

Interestingly, choosing the well-known name wasn’t difficult, as the couple tells us. Noé was already known as “Oso,” but in a survey among their closest friends and family about other names, they ultimately decided to add “Mix” to give more focus to the initial idea. “We never gave up even though many may have doubted us, and that’s where we dedicated ourselves to perfecting the original recipe and then went on to create our wide variety,” Noé commented.

Oso Mix offers nine different flavors, with the most popular being tropical or fruit-flavored, and they are about to launch a new flavor. Additionally, the gummies and the paste known as chamoy come in different flavors like mango, strawberry, and other varieties that are on the way.

“We invite you to try our product; you can do so at Tropical on 72nd and Q, where we prepare it. And if you don’t like it, you don’t have to take it,” said Noé. “You can also find it in Omaha at places like El Mexicano, Mr. Butts, Mariscos el Culichi, among others; craft brewery businesses like Breaded Brewer Artisan Ales and Wine Beer and Spirits Omaha, and soon in the cities of Lincoln and Grand Island. We also distribute at Moran’s Grill in Bellevue, north Omaha, Council Bluffs, and even in Minnesota,” shared Alejandra, who, like her husband, expressed happiness about the great success they have had in the Anglo community.

“We are truly grateful to each and every one who has supported us, the businesses that have opened their doors to us, our customers, friends, and family, but primarily to God. We thank Crystal Beverage Mart, which was the first business where we started selling, and Isla del Mar, which always requested our products. Thanks to all who have trusted in the quality we offer and the service we also provide for parties, gatherings, and more,” they said.

The happy couple is working on new projects, such as opening a “Food Truck,” where, in addition to selling all their merchandise, they will also offer the famous micheladas and fresh food to tantalize the palate. Likewise, they are ready to introduce the new “Bloody Mary” flavor with olives, pickles in vinegar, and a secret Texan-style twist to the public.

To contact them and place orders, we invite you to do so through their official social media on Facebook and Instagram, as well as Snapchat under “Oso Mix Micheladas.” They offer shipping to other states and provide catering services, including the famous “Self-Bar.” For phone orders, please call (402) 661-9794.

We congratulate this entrepreneurial couple who, in the midst of a crucial and challenging social period like the pandemic years, managed to be visionaries, start a business, and seize the opportunity to become pioneers in the state of Nebraska with these delicious blends known as “Oso Mix Micheladas.”
